

Companies chip in for ambulance
Pinedale, Wyoming - With the help of four oil and gas companies, a specialized ambulance has been stationed near the Wyoming fields, drastically cutting emergency response times. Shell, EnCana, Ultra and BP contributed $900,000 toward the new ambulance and a place to house it. Sublette County chipped in an additional $500,000.

Michigan S.O. to drop medics
Mason, Michigan - A Michigan sheriff's office will end its practice of cross-training deputies as paramedics due to budget cuts. The move will save the county thousands of dollars a year. One county official said the sheriff's office is duplicating services already provided by other local agencies.

Groveland, California - Faced with a voter defeat of propositions that would have increased property taxes to maintain the current levels of ambulance service, one Northern California County is studying ways to maintain EMS service levels.

Two firms want Illinois city contract
Belvidere, Illinois - Two companies want an Illinois' town's business. Lifeline Ambulance LLC and Superior Airground Ambulance Service made their intentions known at a recent city council meeting. Lifeline has worked with Belvidere since 1993 and Boone County since 1987. There's no cost for the city's contract; insurance and patients pay for services.

Texas AirMed1 named top in state
San Angelo, Texas - Texas aero-medical provider AirMed1 has won the statewide award for air medical service. The award, provided by the Texas Department of State Health Services, is based on nominations sent in from the public as well as those from hospital staff members.
