Quality of Life
Our goal at Firetimes.com is to provide our viewers with important and interesting information that will enhance their understanding of nutrition and it's affect on our their quality of life.

We hope the following feature will provide a guide in determining how you "measure up" regarding your current nutritional habits and their results.

Body Mass Index
Body Mass Index (BMI) takes only two anthropometrical measures into account: height and weight.

Daily caloric needs to maintain weight
Note: kg = pounds divided by 2.2 (i.e.: 180 lbs / 2.2 = 81.8 kg)
Approximation:

Men kg (body weight) x 24 = kcal/day
Women kg (body weight) x 23 = kcal/day

Basal Metabolism
Note:
kg = pounds divided by 2.2 (i.e.: 180 lbs / 2.2 = 81.8 kg)
cm = inches multiplied by 2.54 (i.e.: 68 inches x 2.54 = 173 cm)

Harris-Benedict equations:

Men BMR = 66 + (13.7 x wt in kg) + (5 x ht in cm) - (6.8 x age in yrs)
Women BMR = 655 + (9.6 x wt in kg) + (1.8 x ht in cm) - (4.7 x age in yrs)
